Being a role model

by Danno

Now that I have a little 8 month old baby, I'm keen to continue improving my habits to set a good example for her. It's a little scary knowing that even when I'm not paying attention to my actions, she will be and my example will directly shape the eating and exercise habits for her life.

I didn't have very good role models for this myself so am keen to make things different for her.

This week I am focussing on appropriate portion sizes for me and "just eating" (i.e. don't eat and watch TV or do other things at the same time). For her, I am preparing fresh food and freezing it, as well as letting her guide the amount she has.

We have also been for a walk every day even though it's always likely to rain any minute! We've got our raincoat and pram cover and if we get wet, well she gets to learn what that feels like. :)

Thanks so much for your easy-to-follow tips!
