The best way to lose weight combines a range of principles that work together in order to increase the mobilisation of fat from your fat stores, boost your metabolism and then increase the utilisation of fat for fuel. As a result, greater losses of fat, and ultimately weight, can occur.

This strategy really is the quickest way to lose weight. It is often used by bodybuilders and fitness competitors to prepare for competitions since it dramatically burns the fat off your body. Try it yourself every day for 3-4 weeks and prepare to be amazed at the results you will achieve!

I call the best way to lose weight fast the 'Maximum Fat-loss Protocol'. It consists of 4 basic steps that when followed can literally turn your body into a 24-hour-a-day fat burning machine!

Once you understand some basic human physiology, the reason why it is the best way to lose weight becomes clear.

Here's how to lose weight quickly using the 'Maximum Fat-loss Protocol':

  • 1. Wake up and take a thermogenic (XLR8 Thermogenic is a good example)
  • 2. Exercise for 30-60 minutes
  • 3. Wait 20-30 minutes
  • 4. Have breakfast
  • Even though this process appears to be simple, it really is the best way to lose weight! Obviously morning exercise may not suit everyone so we will also examine an alternative option, which can achieve the same result.



    Here's how it works:

    When you exercise at a moderate level of intensity your body can use either fat or carbohydrate as a fuel source. Since your blood sugar level will be low first thing in the morning and your blood level of free fatty acids will be high (as a result of taking the thermogenic), a greater amount of fat will be burnt up during the exercise session.

    One of the potential consequences of exercising at a higher level of intensity first thing in the morning is that your blood sugar level may get too low, resulting in you becoming 'hypoglycaemic'. You see, when you exercise at a higher level of intensity a greater proportion of carbohydrate is used as a fuel source. Since your blood sugar level is already low, intense exercise will make it go even lower still. This may cause you to feel nauseous, dizzy and shaky.

    Therefore, if you choose to do interval training in the morning you may want to have a small amount of carbohydrate (i.e. half a banana) before the exercise session. This will help to prevent you from going into a hypoglycaemic state.

    After completing the exercise session it is best to wait 20-30 minutes before having breakfast. This is because taking the thermogenic and performing the exercise will keep your metabolism elevated as well as having high levels of fatty acids in your blood stream for quite some time after the exercise session is finished. This means you will burn up even more fat during this 'post-exercise window'.

    You shouldn't have breakfast straight after exercise if you want to burn maximum amounts of fat because having a meal will increase your blood sugar level, which means your body can use that as a fuel source instead of the fat. Plus, insulin will rise (due to the increase in blood sugar), resulting in a halt on the fat-burning process in your body.

    Therefore, when you get home after training, have a shower, get changed and then have breakfast. It is important that you don't wait longer than 30 minutes after exercise before having breakfast because then cortisol will start to rise and this has the effect of breaking down muscle tissue. Since muscle is one of the most metabolically-active tissues in the body, a loss of it results in a depression of your metabolism.

    This very simple, yet effective 4-step process really is the best way to lose weight fast!

    Exercising before breakfast in the morning may not suit some people. Accordingly, you can modify the exercise session slightly and still achieve the same outstanding results. Best of all, it doesn't matter what time of the day you exercise. All you need to do is perform some resistance exercise (weight training) before your aerobic exercise.

    The weight training depletes your body of its blood glucose because it is a high intensity form of exercise, which means that when you perform the aerobic exercise afterwards more fat will be used as a fuel source.



    Here's the 'Maximum Fat-Loss Protocol' Alternative:

  • 1. Take a thermogenic before your workout ( XLR8 Thermogenic is a good example)
  • 2. Perform a weight training workout
  • 3. Perform 20-30 minutes of aerobic exercise
  • 4. Wait 20-30 minutes
  • 5. Have your next meal
  • Performing either version of the 'Maximum Fat-loss Protocol' at least 5 days a week is truly the quickest way to lose weight, especially if you combine it with a suitable nutritional plan.
