Love the Cross Trainer

Hi Steve,


I feel there's more impact on treadmills and prefer instead to jog/run/jog/pump on my cross trainer.

With the addition of a new little person in our family, the machine has been relegated to the garage though I still make time regularly to get out there with my iPod.

I like that the effort-level can be adjusted and tend to work to a song's rhythm to match the difficulty.

In the past I've found watching TV really doesn't work for me; I end up getting wrapped up in what I'm watching and slow down. I suppose if it was scenery though, it may not be the same - sounds cool.

They had (have?) something similar at Scitech for a while, where you were on a bike and moving through a park. Only 2D though.

Get Moving

A 24 hour gym offers you equipment, a safe place, as well as a place that is heated or air conditioned. But it all comes at a price (monthly or yearly fee).

An alternative would be to find a park to walk or run at and a school that offers their gym for people to walk in early in the mornings before PE classes start. Or perhaps if you live near a Mall, you can go there and walk inside.

If you aren't able to go outside or to a park/school - perhaps you have an upstairs (steps) and you can go up and down them for a certain number of times and increase the number each day.

The main thing is to get moving and to start some kind of routine. Then be creative and create ways to include different exercises to burn those extra calories.
