How to Detox Your Body

It is a good idea to detox your body once or twice a year. Generally, a body detox is recommended after coming back from a holiday or after the festive season; any time that you may have eaten too much food and/ or consumed too much alcohol for an extended period of time.

Oftentimes, holidays and the festive season result in weight gain, so natural detox diets are useful in getting rid of the excess weight that has been put on during that time.

It is best to detox your body for 2 weeks by following one of the natural detox diets, performing about 30 minutes of exercise every day and taking a range of supplements to assist your body with the whole process.

Detox Your Body

Keep in mind that natural detox diets are not something that are considered to be long term, sustainable approaches to nutrition. However, they will help you get rid of the excess fluid and fat that you have likely accumulated over the holiday or festive season. It will also give you a 'jump-start' to eating healthier, which may then be carried on for the long term.

The primary mechanism through which natural detox diets work is by improving the functioning of the liver (the main detox organ in the body), the kidneys and the gut. By doing so your whole body will function better and you will lose weight quickly.

When you detox your body once or twice a year in order to rid your body of the unwanted toxins that may have accumulated and which have been stored in your fat cells, it is amazing how quickly you can lose weight as well as improving the way you feel.

The toxins may come from the food, water and air that enters our body and may include: antibiotics and hormones in food, pesticides, chemicals from food packaging, household cleaners, food additives, detergents, heavy metals, pollutants, drugs and cigarette smoke.

It is thought that this build up may lead to disease, impaired immune function, hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, a poor metabolism, tiredness, headaches, fatigue and muscle pain.

Therefore, an occasional body detox is considered to be a good idea for improving health and assisting weight loss even though there is no solid science to back up these claims.

There are a range of foods that must be avoided when you detox your body during the 2-weeks as well as a range of essential foods that must be included.



Here are the foods you will need to eliminate from your diet for the next 2 weeks:

  • All wheat and wheat-based products (pasta, bread, baked goods, etc.)
  • All dairy products
  • Red meat
  • Pork
  • All cereals (except oats or natural muesli- not toasted)
  • Alcohol
  • Caffeine (except green tea and XLR8 Thermogenic)
  • Artificial sweeteners (diet drinks, chewing gum, protein shakes, etc.)
  • Sugar and sugar-containing products (including sauces)
  • Added salt (it is allowed only in the spices and seasonings you use when cooking)
  • Roasted and/ or salted nuts (raw only)


  • Now I know you might be thinking, 'What's left for me to eat?' There is actually quite a bit.

    Here are the foods you can eat
    when you detox your body:

  • Fruits and vegetables (particularly green leafy vegetables, garlic and onions)
  • Free-range eggs
  • Free-range (and ideally but not essential, organic) chicken
  • Brown rice
  • All Fish
  • Oats and natural muesli
  • Rice milk
  • Green tea
  • All spices
  • Raw nuts
  • Beans (not canned, only beans that require soaking)


  • Perform at least 30 minutes of exercise every day
    In addition to following this body detox diet, you also need to exercise for at least 30 minutes every day. Any type of exercise is fine, however, make sure you increase your heart rate, increase your breathing rate and you start sweating in a short period of time.

    If these 3 physiological changes don't occur then you're not exercising but rather simply being active. You must be willing to increase the intensity of your daily exercise session if you want to detox your body properly.



    BREAKFAST:

    Option 1:

    30g natural muesli or 20g oats
    1 tablespoon of raw mixed nuts
    2 teaspoons of psyllium husks
    150 - 200mls of rice milk / oat mik / almond milk
    1 cup of green tea (optional)

    Option 2:

    Omelette made with 2 eggs, onion, and tomato 1 slice of wheat-free bread (toasted, no butter or margarine)
    1 cup of green tea (optional)

    With your breakfast take the following supplements:

  • 1 XLR8 Thermogenic capsule (or take this before a morning exercise session)
  • 1 MultiSpice capsule
  • 2-3 fish oil capsules (or equivalent liquid)
  • 1 multivitamin/ mineral tablet
  • 1 Relieve Turmeric Forte tablet or 1 InflammaCALM capsule
  • 1 teaspoon of SuperFood Blend (mixed in cereal or water) or 2 Super 7 Blend capsules


  • MID-MORNING:

    Option 1:

    1 apple or banana
    12-15 walnuts or almonds


    Option 2:

    100g of tuna



    LUNCH:

    Option 1:

    6-8 pieces of salmon sushi

    Option 2:

    Chicken salad made with 100 grams (approximately) of chicken breast made with leafy greens (English spinach), tomatoes, cucumber, olives, grapes, nuts, and seeds.

    With your lunch take the following supplements:

  • 1 XLR8 Thermogenic capsule (or take this before an afternoon exercise session)
  • 1 MultiSpice capsule


  • MID-AFTERNOON:

    Option 1:

    Bean salad (or same as mid-morning)



    DINNER:

    Best Body Detox Option 1:

    Salmon with pumpkin, sweet potato, and broccoli

    Option 2:

    150 grams (approximately) of chicken breast with potato, sweet corn, broccoli, and peas
