Taking home for Hubby

by Kerry
(Adelaide, Australia)

I knew diet drinks weren't good for us but I had no idea how bad. My husband is diabetic and was told he could have these in moderation - and we all know a man's idea of moderation don't we! I'm taking this article home for him to read.

Now I Know Where Those Headaches Were Coming From

by Vicki Kron
(Murrells Inlet, SC)

Thanks for this information. You are totally right.

I began to suffer from headaches and gastrointestinal problems. I did some research on Aspartame, and I suspected it was the culprit.

Since eliminating diet soft drinks from my liquid intake, both the headaches and the GI problems have disappeared. It takes a while to get over the "Diet Soda" cravings, but the benefits are really worth the effort.

You're Absolutely Right Vicki
by: Steve

Hi Vicki,

Thanks for your comments. I totally agree with you! I have spoken with several people over the years that suffered from headaches and GI problems similar to yourself and when they stopped drinking diet drinks the problems disappeared.

I must admit, I still have the occasional diet drink, perhaps 1 can every 2-4 weeks, and I don't have any problems with it. However, many years ago when I drank them regularly I found I got a slightly headache almost immediately after having them. At the time I guess I was drinking a can every two days or so.

Plus, I did notice that when I cut them right down to my current level I did lose some weight too.

Thanks again for your comments Vicki and I hope your training and nutrition are going well.

Cheers,

Steve.

DIET DRINKS - SO TRUE!

by Alice Deman
(Albany, WA, Australia)

I love the articles you post on the net and this one especially is so true. Sometimes I really crave a soft drink (lemon soda) and tend to go for the diet ones as they aren't high in calories but what is the alternative??? A can of sugar???

I don't drink alcohol so that isn't a problem.

Also, the less weight you have to lose the harder it seems to be. Thanks for your articles!

Alice.

diet drinks are okay but not great!
by: Steve

Hi Alice,

Thanks for your feedback and your comments.

If you're only having a couple of cans of diet sodas a week and you're relatively healthy then I don't think they going to be a problem.

I believe your liver will be able to process the chemicals they contain and excrete them from your body. However, I certainly wouldn't be having more than 2 cans a week.

You're right that they're better options than the full sugar versions, but I wouldn't call them 'healthy' that's for sure!

You're also right that is does become harder to lose weight as you get closer to your goal weight.

Nevertheless, you can still lose weight by simply incorporating the correct principles into your lifestyle and allowing enough time for them to take effect.

I wish you all the very best with achieving your goals Alice!

Regards,

Steve.
