There are 3 categories of foods that speed metabolism. All 3 groups can dramatically increase metabolism and therefore assist your weight-loss efforts. Here's the foods to boost metabolism:

The 3 categories of foods to boost metabolism are as follows:

  • Nervous System Stimulants

  • Muscle Mass Support

  • Whole Foods
  • Nervous System Stimulants

    This group of foods to boost metabolism include those foods that stimulate the nervous system directly and can dramatically increase metabolism. When people eat these foods they notice their body feeling warmer almost immediately afterwards.

    Foods That Speed Metabolism

    This category includes foods like, chilis, black pepper, guarana, teas, coffee, cocoa, exotic fruits (citrus aurantium, evodiamine, etc.) and ginger.

    Muscle Mass Support

    This group of foods to boost metabolism include foods that help to build or maintain muscle mass (and other lean tissues of the body). By doing so, they can increase metabolism indirectly because muscle is one of the most metabolically-active tissues in the body.

    This category includes foods that provide protein to the body such as: lean red meat, chicken, fish eggs, nuts, seeds, legumes and cheese.

    Whole Foods

    This group of foods to boost metabolism simply includes 'whole foods'; foods that require digestion by the body. Since the process of digestion requires the expending of energy, all foods will therefore have a positive impact on metabolism.

    Of course, the more natural the food is the greater likelihood that it will dramatically increase metabolism because it requires more digestion by the body.

    If a food has been processed in some way, it is likely that less digestion is required by the body and therefore it will have less impact on your metabolism.

    Overall, if you make an effort to include these foods that speed metabolism in your diet on a daily basis you will be taking positive steps and will dramatically increase metabolism.
