Foods To Speed Up Metabolism

Here are some foods to speed up metabolism that can assist your weight loss efforts.

If you are serious about burning body fat and losing weight, then you may want to consider incorporating some of these foods into your diet on a daily basis. They can speed up your metabolism, making your body a more efficient fat burner and which can help you lose weight faster.

Since your metabolism plays such an important role in your health, your body's functioning and your ability to lose weight, finding ways to boost metabolism naturally is definitely something that is worthwhile considering.

Foods To Speed Up Metabolism

Here are the foods to speed up metabolism:

Cayenne Pepper (Chilli)

Cayenne pepper (also known as chilli) contains an ingredient called, capsaicin. Capsaicin is well-known to boost metabolism naturally and therefore assist people with their weight-loss efforts. It does this by stimulating the receptors on the sympathetic nervous system, resulting in a thermogenic effect in the body.

If you are able to tolerate peppers then they are definitely worthwhile adding to your diet on a regular basis. They can be easily added to foods, cooked with, included in salads and used to make marinades.

Protein

Protein is one of the macronutrients, the others are carbohydrate and fat. There several mechanisms through which you can use high-protein foods to speed up metabolism.

Since most people don't have protein in each of their meals throughout the day, by making this one change and including foods containing protein in each of your daily meals, you can dramatically speed up your metabolism and achieve your weight-loss goal faster.

Protein gives your basal metabolic rate a boost because it requires more energy to be digested compared to the other macronutrients. This means it increases the thermic effect of eating (TEE).

Not only can it speed up your metabolism directly but it may also boost your metabolism indirectly because it helps to support the maintenance (or building) of body tissue. Since the body is a dynamic structure, constantly breaking down and building up body tissue, providing your body with the building blocks (protein, which is made up of amino acids) it needs to build tissue throughout the day means that your metabolism can remain elevated or may speed up.

Here are some of the high protein foods to speed up metabolism: red meat, chicken, fish, eggs, cottage cheese, nuts, seeds, beans and protein powder.

Caffeine

Caffeine is contained in a variety of foods and herbs including, coffee, some teas, chocolate, guarana and cocoa beans. It is also contained in a variety of drinks and supplements including XLR8 Thermogenic. Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system and is an easy way to boost metabolism naturally.

People have been using caffeine-containing foods to speed up metabolism for millennia. Not only does it speed up your metabolism but it can also give you a significant energy boost.

There is certainly no need to consume excessive amounts of caffeine, but a small amount from coffee, tea or supplements, especially prior to an exercise session can be enormously beneficial in helping you speed up your metabolism and therefore, lose weight.

Graprefuit

Grapefruit is another one of the foods to speed up metabolism. Its mechanism is indirect because it inhibits the breakdown of caffeine in the body and by doing so, caffeine can remain in the body for longer and therefore, keep stimulating the central nervous system.

The ingredient in grapefruit that has this effect is called, naringenin. It is also the nutrient that gives grapefruit its bitter taste.

Sushi

Seaweed makes up the wrapping on sushi and is a rich source of iodine. Iodine is important for optimising thyroid function in the body and the thyroid gland controls the metabolism of all body cells.

Therefore, ensuring that your thyroid gland is functioning well, means that you can keep your metabolism elevated and burn off body fat faster.

If you have a slow metabolic rate, which may be the result of thyroid problems, then it may be worthwhile eating sushi on a regular basis in order to provide your body with more iodine. It is definitely one of the foods to speed up metabolism.

It is even better still to use other nutrients in addition to iodine in order to optimise thyroid function. Thyron by BCN is a thyroid-support supplement that contains ioodine along with all the other nutrients that are beneficial in helping your thyroid gland function at optimum levels. It is one of the best supplements to use if you suffer from low thyroid symptoms.

Nuts, fish, cereals

Nuts, fish and cereals are rich in a nutrient called, selenium, which is beneficial in optimising thyroid function. Including them in your diet regularly may also help to boost metabolism naturally and help you lose weight faster.

Meal Frequency

Increasing your meal frequency may also help to speed up your metabolism. Even though it isn't one of the foods to speed up metabolism, it is related to food and nutrition and its impact on metabolism.

More frequent meals can dramatically boost your metabolism because your body never has to invoke its 'Anti-Starvation Response'. As a result, you should endeavour to consume 5 or 6 small meals a day, which means having a meal approximately every 3 hours during the day.

Overall, if you're serious about losing weight and getting great shape then you should consider including at least some of these foods to speed up metabolism in your diet every day.
