Habits As We Age
Habits as we age
Habits create our lives and as the years go by the habits we create become stronger. Just like a piece of string, every time we repeat a habit, good or bad, we keep adding another piece of string to the other. Over time, the accumulation of string becomes an almost unbreakable piece of rope.
If you want to lose weight, get in shape, or achieve any goal in life, you must firstly examine your daily habits and see if they are taking you closer to or further away from your goal. Then you need to make a conscious decision to change them if need be. For some people it may mean giving up desert after dinner every night or simply reducing it to once or twice a week. For others it may mean going for a brisk walk in the morning before breakfast rather than simply getting out of bed and having breakfast straight away.
By making the effort to change your habits if required, you start to move quickly towards your goal, especially if you combine these lifestyle changes with other health and weight-loss strategies.
If the old habits have been well established over many years it may be difficult to change them. However, by making a conscious effort, eventually the old habits will be replaced by the new ones.
