Hormones And Weight Loss
Hormones and weight loss in your body may be influenced by many lifestyle factors. Here are some of the main hormones that may be manipulated to help promote greater weight loss:
• Insulin
• Glucagon
• Epinephrine & Norepinephrine
• Thyroxine (T4) & Triiodothyronine (T3)
• Human Growth Hormone (hGH)
• Testosterone
• Cortisol (corticosterone)
Here are the lifestyle factors that have the greatest influence on the abovementioned hormones:
• Nutrition
• Resistance exercise
• Aerobic exercise
• Supplementation
• Stress
• Sleep
By manipulating these lifestyle factors we can have an enormous impact on our bodies production of these hormones. Our goal is to maximise the production of the ‘positive’ hormones, minimise the production of the ‘negative’ hormones and optimise the production of the hormones that have both a ‘positive’ and ‘negative’ effect in the body.
We will now examine how production of the various hormones are influenced by the various lifestyles factors so we can then modify our lifestyle to maximise the benefits.
