How To Lower Blood Sugar

Here's how to lower blood sugar quickly and easily so you can keep insulin low and by doing so, burn off body fat faster as well as reverse type 2 diabetes.

Elevated blood sugar causes a whole range of health problems in your body mainly because sugar damages blood vessels and nerves. A high blood glucose level also stops you from being able to access and burn off body fat.

Therefore, it is essential that you find ways to keep your blood glucose level as stable as possible throughout the day.

This can be easily done by using the following principles:

  • Reduce your meal portion sizes

  • Have 'complete' meals

  • Include foods that lower blood sugar

  • Use supplements that help maintain a healthy blood glucose level

  • Exercise consistently

  • We will examine each of these principles individually to see how they can help you to lower your blood sugar level and therefore keep insulin low.

    Reduce your meal portion sizes

Larger meals tend to contain more carbohydrates, which means they cause a greater rise in your blood sugar level when they are consumed. That is why having 5 or 6 small meals a day is so beneficial from a weight-loss and blood sugar perspective. This is how to lower blood sugar effectively and keep it stable throughout the day.

    How To Lower Blood Sugar

The other reason why this principle works to keep your blood glucose level under control is because it helps to avoid insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is a condition characterised by body cells being resistant to the action of insulin. This means blood glucose cannot be shuttled into the cells and therefore remains high in the blood stream.

A high level of blood sugar also means insulin remains high and high insulin means fat burning stops!

    Have 'complete' meals

'Complete' meals means that you have a portion of all 3 macronutrients (carbohydrate, protein and fat) in each of your meals throughout the day. The protein and fat help to slow down the absorption rate of carbohydrates from the meal (as does fibre), which makes it much easier to keep your blood sugar level stable. This is how you can easily avoid elevated blood sugar levels.

Include foods that lower blood sugar

There are several foods that help to lower blood sugar levels and if you include them in your diet you will find it easier to maintain a stable blood sugar level.

There are different groups of foods that lower blood sugar. They are:

  • Low GI foods

  • Foods That Improve Insulin Sensitivity

  • High Fibre Foods

  • Foods Containing Other Macronutrients (protein and fat)

  • These are described in more detail in the article titled, Foods That Lower Blood Sugar.

Use supplements that help maintain a healthy blood glucose level

The group of supplements that help to maintain a healthy blood glucose level and can even lower elevated blood sugar are known as glucose disposal agents. A supplement called GI Factor by BCN contains a unique combination of glucose disposal agents.

Taking GI Factor with meals, particularly lunch and dinner, shows you how to lower blood sugar easily and keep it stable throughout the day. By doing so you will keep insulin low and make it easier for your body to access and use stored body fat as a fuel source.

People who have some degree of insulin resistance should take one GI Factor capsule with each of their main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). People who have normal fasting blood sugar levels but who still want to lose weight should have GI Factor with lunch and dinner only because their blood sugar level is likely to be low first thing in the morning.

    Exercise consistently

Exercise make insulin receptors on lean tissues source, like muscle tissue, more receptive to the action of insulin. This means it becomes easier to dispose of glucose more effectively from the blood stream and therefore keep insulin low. This is how to lower blood sugar effectively.

In particular, resistance exercise, is very effective at making the insulin receptors very receptive to the action of insulin and is certainly one of the reasons why it is such an effective form of exercise to incorporate into your lifestyle particularly as we age.

Overall, discovering how to lower blood sugar effectively is enormously beneficial from a health perspective especially if someone does have some degree of insulin resistance.

I had never heard that before and think it is a very good tip. Meals without a variety of nutrient types always leave me feeling unsatisfied anyway.
