This drives me nuts

Jerry Seinfeld did a routine about how annoying these people are and I often find myself saying out loud his line 'It's not a ride!'.

Not bothering to return shopping trolleys is another, which is not only lazy, but rude.

Thank you for mentioning that not all overweight people are lazy. Because of thyroid disease I have gained 25 kilos and hate the assumptions people make about me. I'm slowly losing weight but it can be depressing and demoralizing at times. Your articles really help. Thanks so much.

I'M NOT LAZY

by Diana
(PERTH)

I would LOVE to be able to do more exercise, walk further, faster, park further from the entrance to the shopping centre.

But today - I AM feeling sorry for myself; with a dicky foot and ankle, and now a dicey back, I find it hard to do as much as I want. My mobility problems are not necessarily visible to other people, but believe me, they are real, and an appalling interference to my desired lifestyle.

Please don't jump to the conclusion that everyone is lazy - they may have a problem you can't see.

Diana

I'm certainly not calling you 'Lazy'!
by: Steve

Hi Diana,

Thanks for your comments.

I completely understand that some people may have limited mobility due to problematic joints, etc. However, I'm sure this doesn't relate to every single overweight person who 'rides' on escalators or travelators.

Furthermore, in some cases (not necessarily yours Diana) there are overweight people who also make the excuse that they can't exercise because of their sore joints, etc. but their joints have resulted from their overweight condition!

When people attend my seminars and tell me they can't exercise I tell them that is 'RUBBISH'! They don't exercise because they don't want to exercise! The bottom line is this, if something is really important to you and being active is not just important to your health it is essential, then you will always find a way.

How about walking up and down a 50m swimming pool if you have bad joints. Even pensioners can afford $2-$3 to go to the local pool to do some exercise.

Diana, I am not meaning to sound harsh but I implore you to do whatever exercise you can! Do it for your health, your quality of life and for your family!

Regards,

Steve.

Lazy People

by Janice
(Perth)

Good comments. Small changes like this are perhaps more important than the 'new diet' or new 'exercise regime' that some overwight people start but fail to follow through on.

These are the small changes in habit that can assist in burning a few more calories every day with little effort; not to metion improving mobility and muscle strengh.

Kind Regards,

Janice

Thats right Janice
by: Steve

Hi Janice,

Thanks for your comments.

You're exactly right Janice! It doesn't take much effort to burn off a few more calories just by making a conscious effort to become more active.

Best of all, anyone can do it!

All the best with achieving your own physical goals!

Regards,

Steve.
