Do You Have
Low Thyroid Symptoms?

Low Thyroid Symptoms
Do you have trouble losing weight? Do you wake up in the morning after a good night's sleep but still feel tired? Do you often have cold hands and feet? Do you suffer from poor concentration and/ or poor memory?

These are just a few of the low thyroid symptoms and if your thyroid isn't working properly it can have a major impact on how you feel, your body's metabolism and how your body functions.

Low Thyroid Symptoms

It is amazing how many people go to their doctor because they just don't feel right. They may feel flat, depressed or suffer some of the low thyroid symptoms mentioned earlier. They know that something is wrong but they can't seem to figure out what it is.

Their doctor gets some tests done but the results indicate that they are fine. 'It must be all in your head', the doctor tells them and sends them on their way with a prescription for an antidepressant!

When a doctor requests a test for thyroid function they will generally only ask for a test of a patient's TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) level. Then, when the test comes back normal, rarely does any further testing get conducted. It is then concluded that the patient does not suffer from 'hypothyroidism' (clinically low thyroid function). However, this does not indicate whether or not you have sub-optimal thyroid function. This is a condition whereby a person has low thyroid symptoms but a blood test indicates that their thyroid is fine.

It is possible to have a normal TSH level but to still suffer thyroid disease symptoms. Since the function of TSH is to stimulate the thyroid gland to produce the thyroid hormones, thyroxine (T4) and Tri-iodothyronine (T3), if the thyroid gland itself doesn't have sufficient levels of particular nutrients, specifically the amino acid, tyrosine and the mineral, iodine, then the synthesis of the thyroid hormones may be impaired and symptoms of thyroid problems may result. Both of these nutrients are found in BCN's Thyron.

Furthermore, T3 is far more powerful than T4 but only a very small amount of the circulating T3 is actually produced by the thyroid gland (about 15-20%). The rest is produced by the conversion of T4 into T3. This process occurs in the liver and kidneys and is dependent on the minerals, selenium and zinc as well as some B vitamins, vitamin C and folate. A deficiency of any of these nutrients may impair the conversion of T4 into T3 and this may result in low thyroid symptoms. All of these nutrients are found in BCN's Thyron.

To make matters worse, when the process of converting T4 into T3 is impaired, T4 gets converted into Reverse T3 (rT3), the inactive form of T3. A high level of rT3 is a major cause of thyroid disease symptoms. Since rT3 fits into the same receptors on cells that T3 does but is the inactive form, it acts like the 'brake' on cellular function and activity, whereas T3 acts like the 'accelerator' on cellular function and activity.

Therefore, it is essential that all the nutrients required by the body for the conversion of T4 into T3 are supplied to the body either from the diet or in the form of supplements. Adequate levels of these nutrients ensure that the ratio of T3 to rT3 remains within an acceptable range and the body can function normally. That means you can avoid the terrible feelings that result from low thyroid symptoms.

Another factor that has a major impact on thyroid levels and contributes to low thyroid symptoms is stress. High stress levels are very common in today's society. Unfortunately though, they can play havoc with your thyroid hormone levels.

One of the stress hormones, cortisol, actually increases the conversion of T4 into rT3. Therefore, finding ways to reduce the impact of stress on your body can certainly help with reducing rT3 levels in the body.

A quick and easy way to reduce the impact stress has on your body is by using 'Adaptogens'. Adaptogens are a group of herbs that reduce the body's response to stress. This means that they may assist the body in normalising the level of rT3 in the body. BCN's Thyron contains a range of 'Adaptogens'. This an easy way to help overcome low thyroid symptoms.

If you suffer from any of the sub-optimal thyroid function symptoms mentioned in the table, and your doctor's said that you're fine, you may like to try BCN's Thyron. It may be just what you need to help optimise your thyroid function and help you get back to feeling normal again!
