Types of Aerobic Exercise

types of aerobic exercise

There are many types of aerobic exercise to choose from. In this article we will consider some of the best examples of aerobic exercise and how to select the best aerobic exercise for you.

Home Aerobic Exercise
The easiest and most convenient way to do your aerobic exercise (and perhaps the easiest way not to) is by having an aerobic exercise machine at home, or an instructional video to follow.

Examples of aerobic exercise machines include: stationary bikes, treadmills, climbers, cross trainers or ‘grinders’. Having an aerobic exercise machine at home certainly has its advantages but it also has its disadvantages.

Outdoor Aerobic Exercise
If being outdoors, getting fresh air and having a changing environment is preferable for you then this might be a better alternative.

Simply going for a walk around your neighbourhood or local park will be sufficient. Make sure you are walking briskly enough to elevate your heart rate otherwise it will be of little benefit (unless you are a beginner).

Walking around a shopping centre doesn’t count either, you must get out and ‘pound the pavement’ for the sake of exercise. Doing it with your partner or friend tends to make it more enjoyable too, and you can help motivate each other. Just make sure you don’t talk too much or this will slow the pace down considerably. Outdoor aerobic exercise also has its advantages and disadvantages, read Look Good Feel Great to find out more. There are many more examples of aerobic exercise in it.

Gym Aerobic Exercise
I personally feel this is the best way to perform your aerobic exercise, however, I understand that it doesn’t suit everyone so the home or outdoor aerobic exercise may be the best aerobic exercise for them.

There are many advantages to exercising in a gym. Not the least of which is the fact that there are so many types of aerobic exercise options available.

I offer readers an Aerobic Exercise Questionnaire in Look Good Feel Great , which makes the process of selecting the types of aerobic exercise that are best for you easy.
